Free smile work

There’s always a reason to smile, if one looks hard enough. This Saturday, Dr. Camille Zelen and her staff at Mount Royal Dental are sure to provide a few smiles, or at least help with those smiles.

Zelen and staff are set to host a free dental clinic for children in support of the American Dental Association’s national Give Kids a Smile program at Mount Royal Dental, 1624 Woodland Ave., from 8 a.m. to noon.

Free dental screenings, treatments, education and advice to children and their parents or guardians will be provided at the clinic.

“February is National Children’s Dental Health Month, and hosting a Give Kids a Smile event is a great way for us to celebrate children’s dental health,” Zelen said in a statement. “This clinic will be fun and informative for both adults and children. We have received a lot of support from the community and have many kid-oriented giveaways planned.”

According to the statement, the Give Kids a Smile program was created in 2003 by the American Dental Association to provide quality dental care for underserved children. What began as a one-day event in February is now a year-round national program with more than 41,000 volunteers. Each year, Give Kids a Smile events nationwide benefit more than 450,000 children.
