Autumn is in full swing, and its flavors are being celebrated today at the St. Louis County Extension Garden Fest.
The program, which takes place at St. Lawrence Church, 2410 Morris Thomas Road in Duluth, has check-in at 5 p.m. and begins at 5:30 p.m. Interested parties will learn how to grow and cook the vegetables of fall.
Topics covered include:
* Successful gardening under tough conditions (variety selection, soil testing, how to extend growing season and other techniques)
* How to grow and prepare summer and winter squash
* Growing garlic in the Northland
* The Eh? desk’s favorite part: taste-testing veggie dishes prepared by the University of Minnesota Extension Master Gardeners of St. Louis County
Registration is $20 per person. Make checks payable to St. Louis County. Participants will get a resource guide and recipe book.
