School wants veggies

It’s time for veggies at Myers-Wilkins Elementary School.

The Myers-Wilkins Community School Collaborative invites friends, families and neighbors to bring homegrown displays of vegetables to the school (the former Grant Elementary) at 1027 N. Eighth Ave. E. from 4:30-6 p.m. today to celebrate the opening with a harvest festival.

Students participating in the collaborative plant, water, weed and care for four garden beds and an apple orchard in Grant Field adjacent to their new school.

Kids attending the event should come with an adult.
