The Duluth Hot Air Balloon Festival, or Les Festival des Montgolfieres a Duluth for those francophones among us, quickly is approaching — the opening ceremony is Sept. 20.
For those hoping to get a tethered ride in one of the 12 balloons scheduled to be in Bayfront Festival Park, your only way in is through a lottery system.
There are 50 rides available, and a $5 donation will enter you into a drawing for the tickets. Donations can be made through this weekend, and the 50 winners will be randomly selected Monday.
Donations can be made at duluthballoonfestival.com or by calling Kernz & Kompany at (218) 628-9996.
