The aquarium aims to capitalize on the additional 75,000 to 100,000 people per day Visit Duluth projects will visit Canal Park during the festival.

“This is the premiere event of the Duluth tourism season. Since Great Lakes Aquarium is located right on the harbor, we will be in the heart of the action,” Jack LaVoy, executive director at the aquarium, said. “We want to make it easier for people to include the aquarium in their plans so they can see all we have to offer.”

Beginning Tuesday, the aquarium began offering special behind-the-scenes tours at a cost of $7 for guests and $3 for members. Three daily tour times are available — 10:15 and 11:45 a.m. and 3 p.m.
