Powwow and breakdancing

A powwow event that touts a breakdancing contest as one of its highlights sounds like something the Eh? desk definitely wants to see.

The Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa hosts the 20th annual Veterans Powwow from 1-11 p.m. Saturday and 1-7 p.m. Sunday at the Mash-Ka-Wisen Powwow Grounds, 1150 Mission Road, in Sawyer. The grand entry each day is at 1 p.m., with another at 7 p.m. Saturday.

More than 900 dancers and 40 drum groups are expected to participate. Saturday events include the Mary Sue Northrup team breakdance contest, plus special events honoring veterans. Food and crafts are for sale each day.
