The man born Robert Zimmerman in Duluth and raised in Hibbing turned 72 on Friday. To celebrate Bob Dylan’s birthday, the Dylan by Duluth Creative Team unveiled a small statue of the singer-songwriter Thursday at Fitger’s Brewery Complex to kick off a fundraising effort to build a larger one.

Iron Range artist Tom Page will create a large-scale bronze sculpture of Dylan that will make its home in Duluth.

A Kickstarter campaign will begin in June. Those who contribute certain amounts can receive rewards that include engravings of the donors’ names in bronze plates at the base of the sculpture or scaled models of the statue.
