You got it, today is International Book Giving Day.
You might remember we told you last year about young Jack Broadmoore of Duluth, who invented Book Giving Day two years ago when he was a kindergartener. Since then, with his mother’s help, the day has gone kind of viral and reportedly will be observed today, also known as Valentine’s Day, by people in some 25 countries.
In Duluth, the Bookstore at Fitger’s is collecting books all month to distribute to area children.
And Carmody Irish Pub is making tonight a Beers for Books night, from 5-7 p.m. The pub will donate $1 to Room to Read for every beer purchased. Local authors Chris Monroe, Lise Lunge Larsen and Margi Preus will provide entertainment.
