‘Doomsday’ and the Last Place on Earth

The Eh? desk couldn’t help but notice that the owner of a business called the “Last Place on Earth” made a court appearance on Dec. 21, 2012, what long has been referred to as “Doomsday.”

If you’re reading this, the world did not end like some thought it would at the end of a Baktun, or cycle, in the Mayan calendar.

Four people affiliated with the downtown Duluth head shop Last Place on Earth, including owner Jim Carlson, his girlfriend, son and a former employee, pleaded not guilty Friday in U.S. District Court in Duluth to federal charges of selling synthetic drugs.
