Friday will mark 71 years since the attack on Pearl Harbor. As part of Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, KUWS-FM 91.3 in Superior and WUWS-FM 90.9 in Ashland will air a pair of locally produced radio programs.
“Radio Superior” will air episodes from Dec. 6 and 7, 1941, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friday. The broadcasts recreate the news and music from the time and include the actual NBC News shortwave report from three hours after the Pearl Harbor attack. The shows will be hosted by Lew Martin, Jack McKenna and Ray Paulsen, with actors from area theaters playing the parts of the people in the news from that time. Martin was working as an on-air announcer at WDSM Radio in Duluth on Dec. 7, 1941.
