One of the best things about deer hunting is having venison to eat. If you’re like many hunters, you turn some of that venison into sausage or snack sticks or jerky.
The News Tribune invites you to enter a few precious samples of your ready-to-eat venison summer sausage, venison snack sticks or venison jerky in our annual Great Venison Sausage Contest. Our panel of judges will taste-test the entries and pick winners in amateur and commercial divisions in all three categories. Winners in each category will receive gift certificates at local outdoors shops.
Entries must be at the News Tribune by 4 p.m. Tuesday. Judging will take place Dec. 12, and we’ll publish the winners in our Outdoors pages Dec. 16. We’ll share some of the winning recipes with our readers. Be sure to put your name and contact information on your entry.
