Ribfest supports community center

The Knife River Community Center has reopened after a summer of flood cleanup and repair, but there is still work to be done and not much money left to do it.

So Royce Spry, kitchen manager at the Lighthouse at Emily’s in Knife River, got together some friends and colleagues to organize the 2012 Knife River Ribfest, with 100 percent of proceeds going to the Community Center.

Ribfest will bring local chefs and “regular guys” together Friday afternoon for some friendly cooking competition in the Lighthouse at Emily’s parking lot on Scenic Highway 61. The grills will be lit at noon but the public part starts at 5 p.m. when official judging and unofficial eating, drinking and dancing begin.

A donation of $5 per person is suggested.
