100 candles?

If you turn 100 or older in 2012, the city of Duluth wants to throw a bash to honor you. But don’t worry; you won’t have to stay out late. The festivities will take place at 10 a.m. Oct. 17 during the Senior Expo at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center. Centenarians will receive a certificate, a short biography and some birthday cake.

The public’s invited, too.

Organizers could use some help. If you know someone who deserves 100 candles or more on his or her birthday cake, the city wants to know so it can extend an invitation. Call (218) 730-4306, mail the person’s name, address, age and telephone number by Wednesday to Gail Walkowiak, Parks & Recreation Division, City Hall-Ground Floor, 411 W. First St., Duluth, MN 55802, or e-mail gwalkowiak@duluthmn.gov.
