There’s a place on the Iron Range to send all of those old electronic devices that no longer are needed.
Mesabi Range College’s Virginia campus, 1001 W. Chestnut St., is hosting a free electronics recycling event in its west parking lot from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Here’s a list of the items accepted at no charge.
- Computers, monitors, printers, laptops, TVs, cell phones, stereo equipment, microwaves, large household appliances
And the ones that cost money to recycle
- $10 each: wood speakers; broken-glass TVs/monitors
- $25 each: refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers
- $30 each: wood console/projection TVs
Items that won’t be accepted include those containing biohazards, hazardous waste, liquids, florescent bulbs, smoke detectors and radioactive materials.
An optional data-cleansing service is available for $10 per drive for Department of Defense-approved hard-drive cleansing.
