Harvest time in Duluth

You’ve got at least two harvest festivals to celebrate today if you’re in the mood.

The 19th annual Lake Superior Harvest Festival is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Bayfront, while Hermantown has its own Harvest Fest from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Community Building and History Center at 5255 Maple Grove Rd.

The Bayfront event includes a farmer’s market, farm animals and presentations on topics like beekeeping, composting and the “backyard chicken tractor” — a chicken coop on wheels that can be moved to fresh foraging sites.

After you’ve visited Bayfront you can reap some more fun by heading up to Hermantown.

There will be vintage tractors on display and artisans at work, more than 60 art, craft and food vendors, music, hayrides and lots of different kids’ activities.

Tickets for the Hermantown festival are $2 for adults, $1 for kids ages 6-18; $5 for families and free for kids 5 and younger.
